Ricki-Lee’s vocal abilities were uncovered, when her mother, overheard her singing “in a breathtaking, huge voice for a 15 year-old girl”. Network TEN’S show, Australian Idol (Series 2) officially launched her public profile when her talent, personality and charismatic performances took her all the way through to the Top 12.
Riki-Lee began performing with a combination of live circuit gigging around the Gold Coast and Brisbane areas with bands, as well as school productions, securing lead musical roles in HAIR, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, CATS, Rent, The Boyfriend, Phantom of the Opera, Grease, and Rocky Horror Picture Show. Ricki-Lee was a featured artist on many red carpets in 2006/2007, including the ARIA and TV Week Logie, Nickelodeon Kids Choice, DIVA, MTV and Urban Awards. She has made countless TV appearances, including Sunrise, TODAY, Video Hits, Mornings with Kerri-Anne and 9AM. Plus, guest performances at events such as Bathurst 1000 V8 Super cars, A1GP Racing Event, Australia V New Zealand International Netball Test Match, The Ashes Series, Australian Women’s Open Final, AFL Grand Final and Oaks Race Day in Melbourne.
By the age of 24 Ricki-Lee has achieved so much - consistent chart and airplay success with 7 top ten GOLD and PLATINUM singles and a huge international hit with Can’t Touch It. Having signed a global record deal with EMI Music, Ricki-Lee is finished her hugely anticipated third studio album. The single ‘Do It Like That’, came in March followed by the new album Fear and Freedom in May.
